Following the Lunch break, Mohammad Rizwan showed excellent progress and confidently faced Nathan Lyon, giving Agha Salman the chance to get comfortable at the crease. Together, they added an impressive 96 runs and helped Pakistan recover from a difficult situation. However, Australia fought back fiercely and took crucial wickets just before Tea. Despite falling short of a century by 12 runs, Rizwan’s efforts were commendable. After Tea, the team put up some resistance, but captain Pat Cummins quickly dismissed three more wickets. With Pakistan struggling at 227/9, Aamer Jamal defied the odds with an outstanding innings of 82 runs before ultimately getting out.

Day 1 began with Shan Masood choosing to bat first on a pitch that has seen high first innings scores in recent games. However, early movement from the pacers proved favorable for Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, each of whom secured a wicket in the opening over, resulting in Pakistan losing both their openers without scoring a run. Despite a promising partnership between Babar Azam and Masood, the Australian captain dismissed Babar with an impressive indipper. The game took an exciting turn when Masood and Mohammad Rizwan fought back with aggressive strokes. However, their efforts were short-lived as Mitchell Marsh managed to break their stand, forcing Pakistan to start over once again.
